Whale of a School Holiday Adventure for Youth

Thanks to a grant from the NSW Office for Youth, FSN had the incredible opportunity to take 16 young people on an unforgettable whale-watching adventure over the winter school holidays.

Our group was in the amazing hands of Out of the Blue Adventures who took us out on the water in Ballina to witness the majestic beauty of whales making their way north for the season. We were lucky enough to see plenty of whales breaching, waving their fins and tails, and enjoying their journey along the coast.

This was the first time many of the young people in our group had experienced a whale-watching tour, which made the adventure even more meaningful for everyone involved. It was an absolute pleasure to see the excitement and awe on their faces as whales leapt out of the water right in front of them.

After docking back on shore, we headed to Shaw’s Bay for lunch on the lawn, followed by a relaxing walk along the Ballina North Wall. There’s something special about bringing young people together in nature — this epic adventure nurtured connection and belonging, while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
